This Privacy Policy explains how the Suthar Vriksha Rakshak mobile application (the “App”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. The App is provided by Shree Vishwakarma Suthar Ekta Foundation (SVSEF) (“we”, “us”, or “our”) to help our team record and track tree plantation activities.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who this App is for
Suthar Vriksha Rakshak is an internal field-operations tool. Accounts are created by an organization administrator for authorized members — Site Coordinators, Plantation Managers, and Organization Administrators. It is not intended for the general public and is not directed at children.
2. Information we collect
We only collect information needed to run the plantation program.
a. Account information
When an administrator creates your account, or when you sign in, we process:
- Your name
- Your mobile number
- Your email address
- Your role in the organization
- A password (stored only in encrypted/hashed form — we never store your password as plain text)
b. Google Sign-In (optional)
If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name and email address with us to match you to your account. We do not receive your Google password. Your use of Google Sign-In is also subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
c. Location information
With your permission, the App uses your device’s GPS location to:
- Record the precise location where a tree is planted (geotagging), and
- Show your current position on the map and measure your distance from a plant so updates are recorded at the correct site.
Location is captured when you register a plant or record an update. You can deny or revoke the location permission in your device settings, but plant geotagging and distance checks will not work without it.
d. Camera and photos
With your permission, the App uses your device camera (or photo library) so you can attach photos of plants and plantation sites. These photos are uploaded and linked to the plant record.
e. Activity data you enter
Information you create while using the App, such as plant species, height and health updates, planting dates, remarks, issue reports, and task records.
f. Technical information
Basic technical data needed to operate the service, such as device time, and network requests to our server. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.
3. Device permissions we request

4. How we use your information
We use the information above only to:
- Create and manage your account and sign you in;
- Record, display, and track plantation activity (plants, photos, locations, growth updates, tasks, and issues);
- Attribute work to the correct team member and site;
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the App.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
5. How your information is stored and protected
- Your data is stored on our own secured servers (a PostgreSQL database and an S3-compatible object storage service for photos).
- Access is restricted by authenticated login and role-based permissions.
- Passwords are stored only as salted cryptographic hashes.
- Data is transmitted between the App and our server over the network; we use access controls to limit who can view records.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
6. Sharing and third parties
We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. Limited data is handled by the following service providers solely to make the App work:
- Google Sign-In — only if you use it to log in (name and email).
- OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org) — map tiles are requested to display maps. Requests include your device’s IP address and the map area being viewed.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) — used to convert coordinates into a readable place name for the dashboard.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our organization and its members.
7. Data retention
We keep your account and activity data for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the plantation program and meet our record-keeping needs. When records are deleted, they are marked as deleted and removed in the normal course of maintenance.
8. Your rights and choices
You may:
- Access or correct your account details — contact your organization administrator or us at the address below.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data — see Section 9.
- Control permissions (camera, location) at any time in your device settings.
9. How to request data deletion
To request deletion of your account and the personal data associated with it, email us at [INSERT CONTACT EMAIL] with the subject “Data Deletion Request” from the email address on your account, or contact your organization administrator. We will process verified requests within a reasonable time, subject to any records we are required to retain by law.
10. Children’s privacy
The App is intended for authorized adult members of our organization. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify users within the App. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
